Johnnie
was presented with the Big Red Book in recognition of his significant role
as one of Britain's top television producers. From his early start in showbusiness,
as a boy stooge to his magician father, he rose to become Head of Light Entertainment
at Granada Television.
He was responsible for
the first major TV appearances of countless artistes - from The Beatles in
the 60's to Lisa Stansfield twenty years later. Johnnie has devised more than
2000 programmes for television, including the award winning series The Comedians
and has worked
with a long list of international superstars such as Frank Sinatra, Woody
Allen, Dustin Hoffman, Johnny Mathis, Jack Nicholson, Buddy Holly - and world
famous composers like Henry Mancini, Burt Bacharach and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
